Weekly Support Package

Stepping stones participantsThis service is for people with a learning disability who need support to plan their week, make good use of their time, want support with specific tasks and the opportunity to share activity with peers.

  • Every person is linked to a network group of peers facilitated by a dedicated support worker. We aim to link people to other people close to their home base so that natural supports can develop over time.
  • Every person gets an individual package of support tailored to their particular needs. We expect needs to change over time and will adapt support to current needs.
  • Every person‘s progress over a year is recorded on a milestone chart.
  • Every person is supported to develop their own support plan for presentation at their next review meeting.

Sessions can be:

  • 1:1 support sessions
  • Supported activity with a friend/friends
  • Meeting/shared activity with local network peer group

Time, days, length and type of contact sessions will be agreed with each individual and changed as required to offer a dynamic package of support that responds flexibly from week to week.

Individual Support for People with More Complex Needs

This specialist support can be purchased by the hour. An experienced worker/s will be allocated to work with the individual to provide support with all aspects of their lives.  This style of support tends to suit people who prefer to interact with one person and need carefully managed support and carefully considered interventions to manage daily living.

The number of hours of support needed each week and the pattern of delivery is negotiated with the person and the people who know the person well.  The format and content of sessions can change in response to changing needs or remain quite static if routine is important to the individual.

All customers are encouraged to identify goals and make plans for the future.  All packages are reviewed either 6 monthly or annually as agreed or as required.

Support for Parents with a Learning Disability

Generate have built considerable expertise in supporting parents with a learning disability.  We know that with the right support people with a learning disability can be excellent parents.  We have developed sound support methods adapted to be delivered person to person in the home so that parents can pick up essential parenting skills in situ at their own pace.  Where appropriate and useful we are able to link people to a peer group of parents for additional support.
